SeeClickFix Blog #3

  1. What are the different statuses on the posters, and what do each of them mean?

The difference between the posters is that there used to be more open issues on the 13th, but on the 27th there are way more on the acknowledge side that the open, and there are some in the closed side as well. This means SeeClickFix actually does help and listens to us for a way better community.

2. Describe what you did (or what you were supposed to do) to find out if the issue you submitted to SeeClickFix was fixed.

You were supposed to go on the SeeClickFix website, sign in into your account, click on the person icon on the top right corner, click on my “my content”, find the name of the issue you reported, then your your status.

3. What changes do you notice from the April 13th posters to the April 27th posters?

A change I found was that there more acknowledge issues on the 27th than on the 13th. Another change I found was that on the 27th there was now a closed side and there was a decent amount of issues on there.

4. Do you think there are any types of issues SeeClickFix is better at getting fixed than others?  Why do you think that?

5. If an issue someone reported did not get fixed, what is something they might try next?

6. Do you think people who report issues to SeeClickFix are able to gain agency?  Explain your answer.

  • Describe how the 9th grade students are tracking the progress of the issue we reported using sticky notes and posters.  What do each posters mean?                      The 9th grade student are keeping track of their issues by going on the SeeClickFix website getting a sticky note and writing down if their issue has been opened or acknowledged. Then they put it on to the poster on whichever side they are on.
  • What did you learn about the status of the issue you reported to SeeClickFix? Did it change (If so, how)?  Did your issue’s status stay the same? Explain your answer.                                                                                                                                       Yes my issue changed to acknowledge, which means that the people of SeeClickFix has seen and noticed my issue.
  • Describe the response you got about the issue you reported.  What was the message you received? Who sent you that message?                                                       Yes I did get a message it was from The City of Oakland and they said that they will start to fix my issue
  • Did any patterns emerge on the poster about which issues are resolved, and which are not?  Explain your answer.                                                                                 Yes a lot of students issues are still open and not acknowledge. On the poster there are more people on the open side than the acknowledge side.
  • Is the SeeClickFix project an example of Violent or Non-Violent resistance to oppression?  Explain your answer.                                                                                       SeeClickFix is an example of non violent resistance because we are not hurting anybody we are just resisting.
  • Do you think SeeClickFix can help to solve problems in Oakland?  Explain why or why not.

Yes because a lot of unthinkable thing can happen just because of our issues, and we are fixing them because we want a safer place to live.

-In your own words describe what the company called SEECLICKFIX does for people living in Oakland.

SeeClickFix is a Helper for all communities and actually listen to small voices that want the space they live in more cleaner and safer

-Do you think SEECLICKFIX helps people in Oakland to resist oppression?  Explain why, or why not.

Yes because there are two kinds of people that are oppressing us. One is the people that are making Oakland look dirty, those are the people that throw trash and tag up streets. And the other kind of people are the one that don’t care and don’t clean up the mess that this city has.

-Explain the story of how you took your picture for the SEECLICKFIX project (Describe what you took a picture of, when you took it, where you were, how, and why).

So I was taking the bus to go to my house after school, then I went to the store to go buy a drink, then I was walking to my house then I trip really bad. I was about to hit my head but I saved myself, then I remembered about Mr.Muniz’s SeeClickFix Project. Then I sent the picture to Mr.Muniz.

-What did you do in class to join SEECLICKFIX on their website?  Describe the steps you took.

All I did was go to the website, and make an account.

-What did you do in class to report an issue to SEECLICKFIX? DON’T FORGET TO SHARE YOUR ISSUE ID NUMBER!  Describe the steps you took.

I first took a picture(of a broken sidewalk, trash, potholes, or graffiti) then sent it to my teacher Mr.Muniz, wait till it gets submitted, then get a sticky note with all the info that issue had, then wait till it gets acknowledge

-Do you predict that the City of Oakland will fix the problem you reported?  Explain why, or why not.

Probably yes because there a lot of things that is wrong with Oakland and I think the people might want it to look like a nice city to the rest of the world.
